The Kaniram Narsingdas Tibrewal Haveli was build in 1883 by one of the most wealthy merchant of Jhunjhunu town know as Narsingdas Tibrewal. The Tibrewals were quite prosperous and famous businessman of Jhunjhunu.
All these Havelis were mainly constructed in the latter half of the 19th century by the wealthy Marwari merchants of Shekhawati region. Trade was their main reason for venturing out of their own town. They mostly traded in Calcutta and the north east regions. Kaniram Narsingdas Tibrewal haveli is a perfect example of intricate craftsmanship of artists and wealth on part of the owner.
Most of these havelis have been restored by the owners and thus transformed into hotels, where as some of them are still being taken care of by the caretakers.
Description:
The haveli boasts of some beautiful and rare artefacts and frescoes. The wall paintings are descriptive and depict elaborate changes going on in the socioeconomic circumstances of the city. It portrays the change taste and techniques of artist to the best of their ability. One of the most prominent paintings is a train laden with live-stock, crossing the passenger train. The painting in itself is synonym of the changing traditions and modes of commutation for traders. On the other wall a man can be seen tying a turban while another man holds mirror for him. Another painting which catches your attention is of a man and woman who seem to be passing a child in between. Some of these frescoes have been done in gold with the help of gold leafs.
Structure wise the Kaniram Narsingdas Tibrewal haveli is typical example of rest of the havelis. The big courtyard opens into small courtyard, which then gives ways to verandahs, which leads to rooms. Like many other havelis this haveli is also counted among one of the most viewed structure of Jhunjhunu.
